This project employs OpenFOAM’s interFoam solver to simulate the transient filling and draining of a water tank. Water is injected through a vertical inlet at the top of the tank and then exits the domain via a horizontal outlet duct at the bottom. The computational domain is discretized using an unstructured tetrahedral mesh.
The simulation settings are as follows:
Turbulence model: k-epsilon
Multiphase model: VOF (interFoam)
Solver: PIMPLE
Inlet: 1 m/s (water)
Outlet: 0 Pa
Simulation TIme : 1 s
Unstructured tetrahedral mesh
Video shows volume fraction of water as it enters and exits the tank.
